Foodie on the Move
If you ask me what I came to life to do, I will tell you: I came to live out loud.
~ Emile Zola
Hello, welcome to my blog!
I’m Sheila aka Foodie on the Move. I’m a twenty something years old Filipino-American living in Baytown, Texas (about 30 min. away from Houston) with my wonderful husband, Scott. We have a dog child name Sawyer who is a mix between a jack russel and schnauzer. He’s wonderful! I’m a Christian, a wife, a friend, a personal trainer (currently not working), and a college student pursuing a degree in physical therapy. I’m passionate about healthy cooking, foods, and trying out new recipes. I love being physically active. Wether it’s running, biking, hiking, training for jiu-jitsu, swimming, going to the gym, walking the dog, gardening, etc. I like doing it all! I consider myself to have a crazy, beautiful, healthy life – it’s all about finding a balance. My purpose for this blog is to share different passions and desires I have in my life.
Marriage
I’ve been married to my best friend, Scott, for four years. We got married on April 22, 2006 and it has been one heck of a ride. It has been filled with challenges, growth, changes, self-sacrificing, and lots of lovin’. I love this guy with all my heart and I have God to thank for bringing him into my life. Scott has blessed my life in so many ways and I absolutely can’t see living my life without him. We’ve learned so much about uncondtional love through our marriage and what it means to be husband and wife. Our hope and prayer as a married couple is to bless others through our marriage and be an example for others. We’re still imperfect people, we still make mistakes, we still get into silly fights/arguments/disagreements, and we’ll probably never ever have a perfect marriage BUT we do love each other and we love God. As long as God is the center of our marriage I know we will be okay. My husband is God’s evidence of grace in my life – I am so grateful for him.
Active & Healthy
“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start.
I strongly believe in living a healthy and active lifestyle. This is the reason why I decided to name my blog, Foodie on the Move. As much as I love food, I am also constantly moving around, physically. I run, I bike, I train in jiu-jitsu, I play, I enjoy being physically active. We only get one life and one body so might as well use it and take care of it. I used to have the wrong idea about what it means to be active and healthy. I had a very negative attitude about healthy living and saw it as something you do when you need to lose weight. I was an overweight teenager growing up and went through a lot of trials and hardships. Throughout all that, God showed me a life worth living. A life that no longer focused on outward appearance and the size jeans/dress I wear. Eating healthy and exercising daily has become part of my life. I no longer obsessed with it and I see it as a positive thing that I can use to encourage others around me. I am using my body the way God designed it to be used and I believe in living a life that brings joy and happiness. Most importantly, by making healthy choices in life I am honoring God by honoring and respecting my body.
FAITH
I will not be the person I am today without God. My relationship with Him is extremely important and I cannot imagine my life without Him. He has helped me get through so much and has guided me in everything I do. I’ve learned to truly love and care for people because of Him. I’ve learned to forgive and sacrifice because of Him. I have a purpose in life because of Him. I am imperfect living in an imperfect world. I make mistakes and I fall short, I’m still human. I am grateful for the life God has given me and I try to enjoy every single moment of it.

The title of your blog caught my eye–my faith is what’s helping me through my insecurities with food and my body as well. I’m glad you’ve embraced God’s love for you and that you are enjoying life, counting your blessings, and inspiring others

hi there! thanks for visiting my blog
God has helped me in this journey as well. By knowing His love for me and finding my worth in Him and not on anything else, I have found a love for myself. It’s still a battle sometimes but I’m grateful for those times because they’ve really grown me. You’re welcome to my blog anytime! Blessings!
I got the dress from Charlotte Russe this past fall.

Hi, Sheila! I’m so glad you found my blog because it’s enabled me to find YOUR blog!
It definitely sounds like we take a similar approach to healthy living. It’s great to know that there are others out there who are inspired to live a healthy lifestyle as a part of their faith in God and Jesus Christ! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog title! You are so right that running and healthy living are journeys, ones that we find the strength to continue by trusting that God is by our sides. Looking forward to following you!

Hiiii! You’ve found my blog already, but I am just finding yours! You and your husband are adorable, and seem very happy together! I love your story, too. I think it’s great that you got past calorie counting and countless hours of working out and now have a healthy mindset towards everything! I’m still working on dumping calorie counting, so I’m definitely jealous of that.
