Healthy Eats

Healtheats

Food and cooking are two of my passions in life, I got this from my mom’s side of the family. Growing up, I was fortunate to be able to eat  good, delicious meals and we always had home cooked meal. I learned from the best cooks: my mom and grandmother. Most of the foods I ate growing up were pretty healthy, my mom made sure we had our veggies and fruits but a lot of the foods we ate were also high in fat and sodium. As I got interested in healthy living, I also got interested in nutritional, whole foods. Since I love to cook I started cooking up healthy meals in my home and cleaned up my pantry and fridge. I stopped caring about the calories and carbs and paid more attention to fats, sodium, and cholesterol. I learned how to make meals I use to make before but a healthier version of it. I still make pizza, pasta, chinese food, “fried” chicken, “fried” rice, cookies, etc. but without all the bad-for-you ingredients. When it comes to healthy eating, people think they are boring, bland, lifeless, expensive, and takes awhile to prepare. WRONG! It doesn’t have to be boring, lifeless, expensive, and takes awhile to prepare. If that was the case, I would’ve quit eating healthy foods a long time ago. I truly believe the number one rule to healthy eating is cook for yourself,  that way you can control what you eat and still eat real portions of food. So don’t be afraid to cook for yourself and other people, I know there’s a cook in everyone of us, you just gotta let it out. I have a couple of recipes on this page, some are my own and the others are from cook books and health magazines.  If y’all have any questions or comments, e mail me at: slbadeaux@hotmail.com   ENJOY!
